"The Loft"
This is the loft; 10 feet by 40 feet of hobby bliss for me. It is separated into 7 sections inside and two out;
they are to the left of the picture, on the end of the loft.
There are three community breeding sections. Two of them for the
show stock with eight nest compartments each and one feeder section
with ten nest compartments. There are also two small individual
breeding compartments for those special pairs or troublesome pairs.
I also have the capability to set up two of the conditioning
sections with four nest compartments each for some early breeding.
There are four conditioning
sections all with V-perches and wire floors. These are set up, two
for cocks and two for hens. After breeding season, the nest
compartments in the show stock breeding pens break down and these
pens become the conditioning pens for the old cocks. The feeder
breeding pen becomes the conditioning pen for late hatches, breaking
down the same way the show stock breeding pen does. The old hens go
outside for their recovery and conditioning.
I have a small area where I
always have show cages set up. Four are the larger holes and four
are the normal show size found at any show.
Lights are set up on four
different switches so that they may be operated separately. Both
breeding sections have the capability of being on timers for
breeding season. |
